Gizem Üstüner: Do not expect anything out of the blue

Do not expect anything out of the blue is a multi-layered project driven by the sustainable VAT-FREE bags, replicating the Dutch blue tax envelopes for freelancers in the same layout, the same shape, and the same shade of blue, but with a different motivation, including a publication inside. The publication concerns the precarious aspect of the everyday politics of freelance life, such as the stress of an unpaid bill or rent, an overdue visa application fee or invoice, an imbalance of many side jobs with temporary or no contracts, a postponed negotiation with an employer for fair paid hours, and many more. Despite these challenges, it unfolds how art workers find creative ways to fill their blue tax envelopes, not just with papers, but also with strength, resilience, and determination.
