Samuel Brzeski: Infernal Monologue — A Reader

A book published to accompany the solo exhibition Infernal Monologue, taking place at Kunsthall 3,14, Bergen. 666 pages of performance scripts, research material on black metal, glossolalia, speech production and philosophy of language is translated into a specially commissioned illegible typeface. The typeface is based on the organic typographic distortions of black metal logos, blurry the boundaries between image and text, sense and nonsense. Also featuring images of August Rodin’s Gates of Hell, Gustav Dore’s illustrations of Dante’s Inferno, and images of mouths from enunciation textbooks that have been subjected to similar methodologies of distortion.
