OBERIH by understructures

a publication and a fundraising project for people affected by the war in Ukraine with a presentation at 8.30pm

Friday July 8, 8pm

‘Oberih’ (in Ukrainian: ‘an item that protects’) is a collection of personal stories and images about things that people choose as their amulets. Gathered from a number of contributors via short texts, voice messages, and online posts in the period of April — May 2022, this publication documents the experience of the ongoing war in Ukraine through these guardian objects that, traversing time and distance, trace intimate links between people, memories and events.

‘Oberih’ is also intended to be an object of support. 90% of proceeds from sales will be directed towards humanitarian organizations and volunteer initiatives, which are currently active on the territories affected by the war in Ukraine. The suggested minimum donation for a single copy is 35 euros; harboring an ambition to increase the project’s impact, donations above that sum are encouraged.

‘Oberih’ is designed and edited by Rietveld Academie alumni Vitya Glushchenko and Timur Akhmetov, with Anna Riabova, Yuli Rudenko and Daša Anosova, who will directly or indirectly be present at the publication launch.

More information about the project is available on oberih.info & instagram.com/understructures.
