‘A small and not ostentatious chamber with whose decorations no fault can be found’ is the third published work by the Museum of Longing and Failure. The book takes shape as an adaptation of the final paragraph of Edgar Allan Poe’s essay “The Philosophy of Furniture,” which describes Poe’s vision of a perfect room. In the MOLAF’s updated version, approximately one third of Poe’s original words are swapped out for words found in the titles of sculptures in the MOLAF’s permanent collection. Accompanying the text is a series of paper collages based on the various rooms in which the MOLAF has appeared.
