Booklook #3: Speespak

SpeesBookLookPak is a wearable publication and legible garment for the playful human of all time. For this third Booklook issue, Anouk Beckers (1990), initiator of Booklook, teams up with Iris de Leeuw (1944), who designed the Speespak in 1966. Speespak is an artwork from 1966, made by Iris de Leeuw. It was a ‘playsuit’ for Homo Ludens: the playful human of the future. This modular suit, with detachable and interchangeable trouser legs, provoked contact and created personal space. Speespak, developed within artist collective Luuks in Maastricht (NL) and part of Rijksmuseum collection since 2013, is newly activated by SpeesBookLookPak.

Booklook is a project by Anouk Beckers. It is a series (2022-now) of unfolding, wearable fashion publications that place clothing in a cultural, historical and social context.
