Hilla Kurki: Almost All the Flowers in My Mother’s Garden

‘Almost All the Flowers in My Mother’s Garden’ examines the complex relationships between mothers and daughters through images and text. The series consists of over a hundred images, portraits of flowers my mother grows in her garden in the southeast part of Finland. The text accompanying the images was collected through a writing exercise that was sent to a multitude of female identifying artists. The text is an amalgamation of intimate memories of mothers.
