Lætitia Paviani: I am La Galerie, you are La Galerie

A biography of the La Galerie art centre (Noisy-le-Sec, France).

To mark La Galerie’s 15th anniversary, Laetitia Paviani was commissioned as part of her writing residency at La Galerie (June-August 2014) to write a kind of biography — a documentary/fictional history — of the art centre. Her idea was to begin with a narrative responsive to the opinions of all those involved with La Galerie — the teams, artists, guest curators, workshop attendees, etc. This way of working provided Paviani with true (or untrue) information on the art centre’s history and helped her construct a subjective, multivalent timeline while simultaneously putting her own writing in danger.
