I Failed to Swoon — Nadia de Vries
In the year 2018, Nadia de Vries vowed to say ‘yes’ to everything. It proved to be a year of countless romantic and aggressive encounters. During her year of submission, De Vries’s house became an alien(ating) entity to her that no longer felt like her own. Her furniture and clothes started to speak to her. Strange creatures infested her dreams. This unsettling period, in which De Vries felt wholly autonomous within her own body but also terrified, became the material for her second poetry collection I Failed to Swoon, a book of relentless self-criticism and object attachment.
