Ieva Jakusa: I Grew Up In the Blockhouse

During Soviet times, the Latvia population grew quickly with incoming workers from Russia. Nowadays, 35% of the inhabitants are Russian speakers. Despite living in one country, there is a social and political gap between Latvian and Russian social groups. This scenario repeats itself in all post-soviet countries. This publication sets the living experience in blockhouse as a common ground for both national groups, to focus on the things that bring them together, not apart.
