Marie Lund: Scout

For five months, it rained every day in the Yucatan peninsula. Following the downpour, an extreme heat. Set in a roofless exhibition space in Merida, Marie Lund’s sculptures echo this tropical cycle. SCOUT is the third instalment of Marie Lund’s artist book trilogy, following TURTLES (2011) and DRUMS (2014). Central to the publication is a new text by Jesper List Thomsen, “Avoiding The Genius.” Like a drawing, the text traces the outline and follows the lines, the folds and the features of the sculptures in the garden of Villa Giulia, in Palermo.
