Milena Bonilla: The Hour Before Sunset

Milena Bonilla’s publication “The Hour Before Sunset Has a Magic of Its Own,” celebrates Rosa Luxemburg’s memory, writings and struggle. The title is drawn from a sentence written by Luxemburg in a letter sent to her friend Hans Diefenbach during her time in prison in 1917.

The publication carries, among others, the memories of a solo show presented at the Galeria Municipal do Porto in 2022 and collects some of the works that artist Milena Bonilla have made following her research on Luxemburg, narcotic plants and epistemic resistance. The volume also includes a series of writings  by Vivian Ziherl, Filipa Ramos, Juan Luis Toboso, as well as a conversation between the artist and curator Isabeli Santiago.
