Sonia Kazovsky: Power Play

Fighting For Dead and Non-existent Spirits

“Fighting For Dead and Non-existent Spirits” is a play of cultural and sexual domination narrated through a contemporary female body; it is a schizophrenic search for political positioning. In her first lyrical theatre work, Sonia Kazovsky acts as both performer and appropriator, examining power relations as cultural heritage. It is a power play in which a female body attempts to reclaim its preconstructed and inherited image. The play inhabits various times and locations through the performer’s contemporary body alongside the spirits of Lee Lozano, Ana Mendieta, Carl Andre, and more.
