‘Shadowkind’ is an imagined word and world born from a multigenerational collaboration, featuring drawings and typesetting by Benjamin Niznik and prose poetry by his mother, Candace Niznik. The work explores storytelling as a means of sharing perspectives and lived experiences, and strives to convey urgent and intimate messages. Readers are invited to embark on a personal exploration of lineage, forgotten ancestors, and the in-between spaces of time – those moments that precede one’s own existence yet continue to shape identity and memory.
