Edgar Walthert: Hildegard von Bingen – Lingua Ignota

One of the earliest invented languages, Lingua Ignota’s purpose was unclear, but speculations include a secret cipher and a universal language. What’s certain is that Hildegard von Bingen is its author. Edgar Walthert created a contemporary sans-serif revival of Litterae Ignotae, one following the characteristics of his typeface Logical, and used it om the first partial sheet map of The Annex of Universal Languages.
