Joy Chung: Weave the Wind

Weave the Wind is a visual weaving of real-time wind data into living patterns. The work transforms live wind data into visual textiles, revealing how invisible and fleeting movements of air can be translated into woven, archivable forms.

Each edition, captured on different days (June 18th and June 23rd), reflects distinct weather conditions, showing how every day creates its own unique pattern. These two books serve as physical archives of that generative system — each containing 24 sheets (48 pages) that record the entire 24 hours of wind from that specific day, translated into patterns. Across both editions, a total of 144 unique patterns are printed.

The pages are designed to connect from one to the next, forming a continuous visual weave—as if the entire book unfolded as a single continuous textile.
