Sensitive Study of the Disappearing gay Cruising Scene in the Riparian Forest of St Privat
with Alyson Sillon, Joël Harder and Shinichiro Oba
Saturday September 30, 8pmIn extension of the exhibition of the Best Dutch Book Designs of 2022 at Stedelijk Museum, Alyson Sillon and Joël Harder set up a performative event to celebrate and deepen the project of the olfactory book « Sensitive Study of the Disappearing gay Cruising Scene in the Riparian Forest of St Privat ». The book is a multisensorial study of a gay cruising spot in the forest of Ardèche – an anonymous place bound to disappear due to planned work on the land, and the shifting of cruising practices to the internet. The book documents a collection of objects unearthed by Joël Harder during a project started in 2020; further it gives off a fragrance conceived by the artist with perfumers to document the place.
The artist, the art director and the perfumer will reunite in San Serriffe to present their take on this subtil topic through this publication, and invite you for a cruising forest elixir made in collaboration with Distillerie Helvia.
Works and artefacts of the global artistic project will be displayed at San Serriffe.
