Reading Bernadette Mayer’s MIDWINTER DAY
Hosted by Marija Cetinić, Ilse van Rijn and Mia You
Wednesday December 21, 5pm‘Midwinter Day’ is a 120-page work in prose and poetry written on December 22, 1978, by Bernadette Mayer from notes, tapes, photographs, and memory. It divides the day into six parts: dreams, morning, noontime, afternoon, evening, and night. We will read the poem through in its entirety (approx. 3,5 hours). All are welcome to participate; anyone can read any parts of the work spontaneously as a drop-in. The event is free but if you feel inclined, you can make a donation to Bernadette’s estate: https://www.bernadettemayer.com/donate
