PLEASURE PROVIDERS PILLOW TALK
Saturday June 1, 8pm
Pleasure Providers Pillow Talks is a sex-worker-led gathering happening the night before International Whores Day. We invite all sex-workers and allies to gather and take a moment to rest, read and reflect. Kami Million is hosting us this evening and invited 5 workers to come and share their stories with the community and our allies. This year we will communicate through the form of letters. To ourselves, each other, our bed, our nightmares and dreams. On this gathering we hand the microphone over to the sex-workers themselves, a chance to reclaim the narrative. Pleasure Providers Pillow Talks highlights the importance to listen, as well as being heard. PPPTalks aims to create a warm and secured space. Next to reflecting there will also be the celebration of the existence of whores. In our space and our day the community doesn’t have to hide, this day is ours, we are allowed to thrive.
International Whores Day: On June 2nd, 1975, over 100 sex workers began an 8-day occupation at the Saint-Nizier Church in Lyon, France. They demanded the end of fines, stigma, police harassment, and the release of ten sex workers who had been imprisoned a few days earlier for soliciting.
