MORTAL SURFACE by Cudelice Brazelton IV
conversation with Kwamé Sorrell, Meike Behm and Correspondence at 6.30pm
Thursday June 26, 6pmCudelice Brazelton IV’s (b. Dallas, 1991, lives and works in Frankfurt am Main) works are magnets. He uses them to glean all sorts of implements and arranges these materials and things in collages, assemblages, and sculptures, staging encounters also between the contexts in which they originated. The recent works gathered in this catalog were displayed at Kunsthalle Lingen, a former repair workshop.
At the book launch the artist will talk about different subjects that refer to his work with Kwamé Sorrell, artist, poet, researcher, writer and co-founder of Black Mass Publishing, an independent press focusing on re/decontextualizing black and African social vernacular through image and text, Meike Behm, Director of Kunsthalle Lingen and with Correspondence (Lukas Engelhardt & Justus Gelberg), who have designed the book.
