TENDER AND TOXIC TALES by Juri Velt and CURATING ECOLOGIES ON ARCHITECTURE by Patrícia Coelho
with talks by Juri Velt and Patrícia Coelho at 8.30pm
Thursday November 28, 8pmThe LINA European Architecture Platform, in partnership with the Irish Architecture
Foundation and dpr-barcelona, announces the publication of two new books by
architect and curator Patrícia Coelho (Portugal) and artist Juri Velt (Austria).
In “Curating Ecologies on Architecture”, Patrícia Coelho presents a contemporary
approach to the evolving role of architecture exhibitions in tackling ecological
challenges. Featuring interviews with Paola Antonelli, Pedro Gadanho, Paula
Nascimento, Marina Otero Verzier and Paulo Tavares, the book examines how
curatorial practices shape and expand the architectural discourse on environmental
issues.
In “Tender and Toxic Tales,” Juri Velt explores potential scenarios emerging in a
mountain town disrupted by the disappearance of a segment of society. Unravelling
the social and architectural repercussions of absence, the book reveals three stories
that bear witness to the use of landscape and its consequences. Interjections by
tongues both ancient and new offer fragments of forgotten narratives and glimpses of
alternative perspectives.
Supported by the LINA Writing Awards programme, these two publications bring
critical and interdisciplinary perspectives to today’s urgent environmental and societal
concerns. Together, they deepen the cultural conversation on architecture’s role in
responding to our world’s most pressing challenges.
